Hawks Fundraising - Claim your NI Rebate
Written by Katsy

“This Weeks Top Tip”

Claim your NI Rebate – on average £1,645

Many people are unaware that you can claim back National Insurance Contributions while working in the UK. This is different from a tax rebate which you can only do when arriving and leaving the UK. An NI (National Insurance) Rebate can be claimed at anytime and only needs to be done once (from thereon it is automatically done for you each year).

So what is an NI Rebate? Much of your National Insurance goes towards the State Second Pension. This is a voluntary scheme and any individual working in the UK can choose to take this money for them self instead. The money can’t be given to you in cash but is rather put into your own personal pension. For an average person working on a salary of £30,000 the rebate will be around £1,645. For foreigners this is a no brainer since this rebate will be far more beneficial than expecting to receive a pension from the UK government when you eventually retire and aren’t even living in the country.

As a fundraiser for the Hawks, the league have made us aware of a National Insurance rebate scheme which needs to be completed by the end of the financial year, which is the end of this month.  For each person who signs up, the club will receive £10.

The code for our club's NI rebate is http://WHawks.nirebateonline.com

AFL London Sponsorship Deals & Making Contacts in London
Written by Mark Williams

No-one can deny that it can be difficult landing 20,000km from a sunny home in Melbourne to the dark and cold of London in the depths of winter. (We were training in the snow the other day!) Leaving mates, family, work and your flat at home, it’s essential that you can make some contacts in London to get life moving in the right direction again. Here is where the Hawks can help! There is no better way to make a few mates and potential contacts for work than by having a run and a beer with a bunch of guys and the guys at the social based Aussie Rules Footy club Wimbledon are certainly welcoming of new players coming along to training or a social function.

In addition, AFL London have set up great sponsorship deals with Fitness First whereby Wimbledon Hawks players (and other clubs) get around 12% off Membership at their many clubs around London. Also, Stoke Travel are sponsoring AFL London with some great deals on Europe trips to the snow, running of the bulls and other destinations.

So now is the time to join the Hawks, get fit and have fun.
