Winter Training
It’s a great thing when you have footy training on a Sunday and you’re out on the lash on a Saturday night and it starts snowing. And snowing proper.....
Unfortunately this previously never before thought of benefit to snow evaporated before my eyes last Sunday after arriving at training 1/2 an hour late (massive delays on the Jubilee line……) and expecting to meet one very disgruntled, lonely and cold Duncs.
Imagine my surprise then when I hit the North West corner of the Common and there were twenty willing and enthusiastic blokes warming up with a bit of a run through. Its not a great place to find yourself when you have not been expecting to have to take training and therefore have not got any real idea what you are going to do.

Fortunately some quick thinking and pretty soon we were out and about tearing up the fresh piste. Handballs, picking it up off the deck, shepherding, pushups, sit-ups, suicides and the odd snowball in the face combined to make the morning a most enjoyable and unique experience. Certainly a first for this football fan who having braved plenty of freezing nights back home at The Pit had never quite experienced a training like it.

Massive kudos must go to all the lads who showed up and performed admirably. This dedication is to be admired and the camaraderie involved was fantastic. Capping it off with a parma, bevvie and a laugh at the Underdog only added to the experience.
Same again this week?
